Emergency Closure of State Ave. Location

To all Newaukum Valley Veterinary Services Clients:

At Newaukum Valley Veterinary Services we prioritize the safety, health and well-being of our patients, clients and staff above all else. Accordingly, we participate voluntarily in the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries Safety Consultation Program.

As many of you know, Newaukum Valley Veterinary Services has been in the process of establishing an additional facility in the building previously occupied by Chehalis-Centralia Veterinary Hospital.  In accordance with our strong commitment to safety, prior to the purchase of the building we had the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries conduct an inspection of the property. In addition to checking for general hazards, these inspections also check for asbestos, and other serious hazards.

We received notification on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 from Labor and Industries that the location at 1214 NW State in Chehalis tested positive for asbestos.  Under the advisement of Labor and Industries, the laws governing such matters, and our dedication to protecting our clients, patients, and staff from the risk of asbestos exposure, we immediately closed the doors to the public.

We apologize for the frustration and inconvenience this has caused you, but we hope that you will understand and appreciate our commitment to your safety, the safety of your pets, and the safety of our staff, as well as our commitment to abide by the laws that govern safety hazards in the workplace and environmental hazards to public safety. Due to the urgency of the situation as well as the health risk, we were not able to provide notification, and have not been able to enter the building nor can we safely remove medications, food, or any other items.

We cannot in good conscience expose anyone to asbestos, and as healthcare providers, we feel that we have an even greater duty to protect the health and well-being of the families and patients we serve.

Our location at 311 Hamilton Rd in Chehalis provides high-quality, ethical, research-based, patient-focused veterinary care, and we need to make certain that any facility in which we offer services to our patients and families is a safe place to provide those services.

Until the location at 1214 NW State Avenue is brought to compliance with the law regarding asbestos, we will only be providing services at Newaukum Valley Veterinary Services at River Bend Pet Center.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support,

Dr. Brandy Fay and the Newaukum Valley Veterinary Services Team

Announcing Newaukum Valley Veterinary Services

Hello River Bend Friends and Family!

We appreciate all of your support through the changes we've been making and growth we've been experiencing these past few months. We  know there have been some bumps along the way, as most of you know, change is never easy - but it's important, and essential so that we can continue to offer quality care to you and your pets.

We want to share some information with all of you regarding the new services and hours for veterinary care, as well as for River Bend Pet Center services.

Effective immediately, the phones at River Bend Pet Center (360-748-3121) are for boarding services only. We will check messages multiple times daily, and return your calls. We do not have the phones at River Bend staffed full-time, as we are busy attending to our boarding guests.

The number to call for all veterinary appointments and inquiries (including surgeries) is 360-748-6622.

The Sunday hours at River Bend Pet Center are changing as well. Effective Sunday August 12th, we will offer two pick up and drop off windows on Sunday: 10am-12pm and 3pm-5pm. We will be open for checking in and checking out only, we will not have phone service available on Sunday.

Beginning Monday August 13th, all veterinary appointments and prescription services will be running through our clinic at 1214 NW State Ave. in Chehalis. We will no longer be offering any veterinary appointments (including walk-in services, fluid administration, injections, and flea treatments) at River Bend Pet Center, with the exception of those services for our boarding guests, and our scheduled surgeries on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

For more information on Newaukum Valley Veterinary Services, including our hours, please visit our website.

Thank you so much for your support -

Dr. Fay, and the Team at River Bend Pet Center and Newaukum Valley Veterinary Services

BIG News!

Dear Friends,

Over the last 11 years I have had the honor and privilege of being an associate veterinarian and part owner at Chehalis - Centralia Veterinary Hospital on State Ave in Chehalis. I came to CCVH straight out of veterinary school after adamantly saying I would never come back to Lewis County :).

Change is inevitable and we have some very exciting changes coming up in the next several months. I am taking the plunge and moving into full practice ownership as well as expanding our services to keep up with demand.

Beginning June 1st, I will be out at my new  facility River Bend Pet Center (311 Hamilton Rd in Chehalis) practicing full time under the name of Newaukum Valley Veterinary Services. I will have two other veterinarians joining me June 11th,  Dr. Casey Johnson (a familiar face from CCVH) and our new associate, Dr. Kendrah Jensen who recently graduated from Colorado State University veterinary school. NVVS is a full service veterinary clinic for cats and dogs only (for right now...stay tuned :)) and we will be available 7 days a week for your veterinary needs.

In terms of CCVH, both Dr. Mark Giffey and Dr. Kelly Ford will still be practicing there and will also be available to all of you for your dog and cat veterinary needs.

Dr. Giffey will be retiring at the end of August and at that time, Chehalis - Centralia Veterinary Hospital and Newaukum Valley Veterinary Services will merge under the NVVS name and similar to some human medical practices, our doctors will rotate between the two practices to best meet the needs of our patients and clients.

This transition certainly comes full circle for me as Dr. Giffey wrote me a letter of recommendation to get in to vet school.

So...what does this mean for all of our clients?

- Free sharing of information between the two clinics from here on out so you do not need to worry about having records transferred over to NVVS if you wish to go to that facility

- More appointment availability at 2 convenient locations

- You choose which location you wish to pick up your pet prescriptions or food

- You can still call the 360-748-6622 number to schedule veterinary appointments for either location (starting June 1st, until then please call 360-748-3121 for appointments at NVVS/RBPC)

- River Bend Pet Center continues to grow its menu of services and can meet your needs for: veterinary supervised cat and dog boarding, dog day-play (our fun filled version of day-care), our private dog park Reign Park (official dedication is June 27th), puppy socialization classes (every Sunday at 4 pm), grooming services (starting in June) and canine obedience classes (using only research backed positive reinforcement techniques). For more information on these services please call 360-748-3121.

I hope that you all continue to join me on this adventure and thank you for all of your support over the years that has necessitated this expansion.

Nurturing the People-Pet Bond,

Dr. Brandy Fay, DVM

Happy Spring!

We are finally feeling the thaw of winter and we are excited to be moving forward on some of our original long term plans! Our private dog park - "Reign Park" - will be open this spring and we hope that this area serves as a joyful place for dog owners to come, play with their dog and feel safe while doing so. We will post information about membership here and on our Facebook page when our opening date gets closer.

As we continue to grow, you will notice some new faces at River Bend Pet Center that all strongly adhere to our vision and mission statement.  They have all been hand picked to give your pet the best possible care while you are away. We are so appreciative and humbled by the support we have received since we opened in December 2017 and look forward to the future. Happy #riverbending!

RBPC Crew

Stay in Touch!

We are off to a great start for 2018! We started up doggie day-care (day play), group training obedience classes and puppy socialization classes this past week. We are having a blast! We feel it is very important for us to provide much needed services to our pet owning community and look forward to any suggestions or ideas you may have about services we can provide.

A few things already in the works: Reign Park (our private off-leash dog park opening in March 2018) and on-site grooming. One request we kept getting was an "Owner Portal" so our clients can easily make boarding or day play reservations, download boarding contracts, update pet information or enter vaccine history - all online. Please feel free to register to our "Owner Portal" and stay in touch with RBPC!

Until next time -

River Bend Pet Center Crew :)

Gratitude

2017 was an exciting year for us at River Bend Pet Center and we are sure 2018 will bring many more adventures! We officially opened on December 9th with a 2 day open house, a ribbon cutting ceremony and had over 1,500 people come through our facility during that weekend. We gave tours, explained our vision and mission, laughed and shed some tears.

The outpouring of support Ted and I have received has been amazing and humbling. Projects like this have a lot of moving parts, thus it takes a lot of work from a lot of people. A special thank you to the following people...we couldn't have made this dream possible without you.

Reggie & Kim Hamilton, The Estate of Glen & Viola Axtelle, Leora Mauel, Ron & Penny Mauel, Ron & Susanna Sturza, Umpqua Bank: Cindy Malraz, Bruce Nguyen, Stephanie Rose and Jo-Marie Roberts, Sarah Coffman, Rich Hitch – Hitch Electric and Gary Hitch

With Gratitude,

Brandy

Open House!

Please Join Us for our Open House

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony!

December 9th and 10th

10 am - 4 pm both days

Ribbon cutting ceremony will be at 1 pm on the 9th

Come take a tour, learn what River Bend Pet Center is all about, enjoy our dessert bar and enter to win some wonderful prizes!

Due to the strict hygiene protocols in place at RBPC, we do ask you to leave your 4-legged family members at home for the open house. Thank you for understanding our need to keep the pets that will be in our care during the event safe and healthy.

Moving Right Along

Every day progress is being made at River Bend Pet Center! One of the bigger developments is we now have a phone number! We know...a simple thing but a very important one :). We can be reached of course via e-mail, Facebook and our website but feel free to call or text 360-562-0325 to book boarding reservations or inquire about our services.

Progress!

Exciting things continue to happen at River Bend Pet Center! Our luxury kennels from Mason Company were installed this past week and exceeded our expectations! We are nearly booked for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend and encourage you to make your reservations soon (click the "pre-book" button on the right hand side of our website).

All of our boarding reservations have come from word of mouth so far and we really appreciate the support we have received from the community as we get this project off the ground. River Bend Pet Center is part of a dream I have had for over a decade. I wanted a boarding facility to augment my veterinary practice where the people - pet bond was understood and celebrated, people could feel comfort in knowing that their beloved pets would be taken care of in a relaxing and healing environment and focus on truly enjoying our pets. With that vision, River Bend Pet Center offers medical boarding and boarding for dogs and cats where there are only 30 dog suites and 6 cat suites to be able to give as much hands-on care as possible, including veterinary oversight. There are no chain link kennels, each pet has plenty of room to stretch out and relax in our custom built suites and owners have web-cam access to view their pet(s). Besides boarding, we have a doggy day-care with both indoor and outdoor areas, state of the art play yard fencing to ensure safety, a training center, massage therapy by a licensed canine massage therapist, in home pet-sitting services and a beautiful 8 acre private dog park named "Reign Park" in honor of our fallen Chehalis Police K9.

From the colors on the wall, to the music playing throughout the buildings, every detail at River Bend Pet Center has been hand-picked to ensure that you and your pets’ experiences at RBPC are memorable.

Boarding reservations are available from November 1st on and open availability of the other services will shortly follow. We will be having a public open house at the beginning of December that we will announce soon. Stay tuned!

Thank you for being part of this journey!

Dr. Brandy Fay, DVM

Projected Timeline

Thank you for visiting our River Bend Pet Center website! Just like the property itself, the website is also still under construction. We have had to modify our opening timeline a bit but we are happy to announce that we should be up and running by November 2017. We are now taking dog boarding reservations for Thanksgiving. If you are interested in finding out about our boarding options and policies, please fill out the form under the "Pre-Book" section and we will send the information to you. We are working on putting all of our information online for easy booking in the future and we will let you know when it is live. Thank you for your patience and support as we continue to get this dream off the ground!

Sincerely,

Your River Bend Pet Center Team
